A Visit to Village Park

So, I'm still playing catch up, but I'm getting closer to being up-to-date on the blog. I'm only a couple of weeks off now. Yeah, me!

Anyway, not too long ago, I took Charlie and Chase to Village Park in Kannapolis. I'd heard great things about it, but it was even better than I had hoped. There's a huge playground, a large splash park, covered picnic areas and even a train that goes around the park. Heaven!

The boys had tons of fun all day. I, of course, had fun taking pictures of the festivities. Here's a sampling of our good times at Village Park.

Lots of twists and turns on the slides. They're great fun!

Chase loves to slide, too!

They even had cute cars and trucks to play on.

Colby and Max went with us. Aren't they cuties?

Happy Charlie. Nothing better.

Charlie loves to run and splash in the water.

Did they have splash parks when I was a kid? If so, I don't remember it.
What fun it must be!

Chase got in on the fun, too!

Lots of ways to get wet here!

Now, that looks like it might hurt.

Charlie and Dada rode the train.
Toot! Toot!

Family Time in Tennessee

We spent the week of July 4th in Tennessee this year. We always love visiting the grandparents, but this time, we had an extra special reason to make the trip.

Not only did we get to visit with the Owen family on the fourth of July - Aunt Janice, Aunt Dalphene, Uncle Ray, Uncle Jim, Cousin Donna and her family, plus Cousin Daryl and his family - but we also attended the first-ever (at least to my knowledge) Harbison family reunion.

My Aunt Margie and Aunt Frances planned the gathering and invited every Harbison they could find. My grandmother, Carrie Edna, had 11 live births (and two stillborn), so there are a lot of of Harbisons out there!

As you can imagine, we're all spread out all over the country, so we weren't able to gather everyone, but each family was represented with the exception of Tom Harbison.

Not bad, eh?

It was lots of fun meeting new family. I'm so happy that I was able to go. I hope Margie and Frances plan another one soon! (But maybe next time, we'll have it in an air conditioned building. It was rather hot that day. Whew!)

Here are a few photos from our fourth of July spent on the lake with the Owen family.

Charlie loves water... any kind of water. Pool, ocean, lake. He's not picky.

This was Chase on the boat. Me thinks he might have his mother's motion sickness.
Sorry about that, Chase!

Charlie snuggled with me for a bit.
I loved it!

Chase eventually perked up some.

Isn't the lake beautiful?

Sweet face.

The Arning clan!

This was Charlie checking out the motor on the boat.
He stared at it forever, trying to figure out how it worked.

Here are pictures from the Harbison family reunion.

Uncle Johnny and my Dad (brothers)

Dad is the baby of the family.
He says that everyone called him "Lil' Sweetie."
I'm not buying it.

Aunt Frances

Uncle Johnny

Aunt Sammie (she's the oldest)

Uncle Kenny

How festive!

This is part of our family tree, but just immediate family.
There are too many to list otherwise!

I think this photo is funny.

Cousin Kevin (Margie's son) and Charlie
Kevin is great with kids!

Chase was getting a kick out of Aunt Sammie.

Dad and Kevin are like two peas in a pod!
BTW, Kevin is a carpenter like my Dad.
I'm going to send the boys to TN in a couple of years so Dad and Kevin
can teach them everything they know.

Aunt Margie

Aunt Sammie with second cousin Joy and her husband Jethro,
who, by the way, live about 20 minutes from me in Huntersville!

Aunt Frances' family (She had six kids!)

Aunt Bille Sue's family (That's Billie Sue on the left.)

Uncle Bob's family (Bob passed away awhile ago.)

My Dad's family

Aunt Martha and Uncle Kenny

The Harbison brothers and sisters
(The other three have died, sadly.)

Carrie Edna's grandkids
(There are a lot of us! This is only a sampling.)

Carrie Edna's great-grandkids
(There are lots more of them! BTW, the cute girl in the aqua top behind Charlie
is Carrie Beth. She was a flower girl in my wedding...
when she was 8!)
Until next time...
