Our Little Pilgrim

Last week, Mike and I spent Monday afternoon at Chase's school for his class Thanksgiving feast. All of the parents gathered in the classroom while we waited for the kids to join us. After a few minutes, they slowly walked into the room, staring at all of us and wondering what in the world was going on (even though they had practiced this many times). Once they were all corralled in the classroom, Mrs. Yascur lined everyone up and got them ready to sing their Thanksgiving song to the parents.

It was so fun to see Chase at his first little "performance." I could tell he was looking for me and Mike, but he didn't see us at first. I waved at him to get his attention at which point he got the biggest, goofiest grin on his face. Then, instead of singing, Chase and Max spent the next few minutes giggling and hugging each other. It was completely and absolutely adorable.

After their "song," we all sat down for a Thanksgiving feast - preschool-style - complete with Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, cookies and juice boxes. Yum!

What a great time we had spending the afternoon with Chase at his school. It's obvious he is doing well and Mrs. Yascur really enjoys having him in class. I'm sure he keeps Mrs. Yascur on her toes!

Happy Halloween!

We had such a great Halloween. We invited a few of our best buddies over for s'mores by the fire pit, games, pizza, snacks, and of course, trick or treating. What fun we had! I just love creating memories like this for the boys.

Trick or treating was a hoot. We all started out as a group, but it took all of 2.5 seconds for Colby (the oldest) to decide that we were holding him back. He clearly could collect more candy without us, so he ditched us all right away.

It didn't take Lexi and Charlie long to follow in Colby's footsteps. In fact, Charlie really stepped it up this year. He perfected his trick or treat technique and knew exactly how to hit each house at an angle, running through the grass straight to the front door so as to move quickly and efficiently from house to house. Sidewalks and walkways took way too long and really cut into candy collection time. Before long, he and Lexi were 10 houses in front of the rest of the group with me trying my hardest to keep up with them.

Max, Chase, Jackson and Henry brought up the rear, but don't be fooled. They trick or treated in style. They rode in the wagon until we reached the center of the house, then they hopped out, ran straight up to the door, trick or treated and ran right back to the wagon. This gave them time to sample one piece of candy after each house visit. So, who do you think were the smartest trick or treaters?

All in all, Halloween 2012 was a big hit... food, fun, games and trick or treating! And, all before 7:30p.

Halloween Preview

I'm sure you'll be shocked to read this but I took a lot of pictures on Halloween. It's taking me quite a bit of time to go through them all and edit them so that they're ready to post. But, it dawned on me that I could go ahead and post some pictures of my cute decor!

I had planned on hosting a small, low key party for Charlie, Chase and their buddies, but then I ran across some super cute ideas on Pinterest and I just had to add a few extra touches to my gathering.

This is a garnish I made for my Pina Ghouladas. They're eyeballs! (Ok. Not really.)

These are my mummy juice boxes. Totally adorable!

It's kind of hard to tell what these are, so I'll just go ahead and spell it out.
I found these cute little Halloween boxes, lined them with foil and filled
each one with graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey bars.
Everyone got their own box of S'mores fixings!

These are mummy cupcakes. They turned out super cute!
