Who are we kidding? This blog - formerly titled "Arning Family News and Notes" - is all about the Arning Bros., Charlie & Chase, and their crazy Mama who's obsessed with taking photos of them. Good thing they're such cuties!
Last week, Charlie's class had their first presentation of the year... a Country and Western show. YEE HAW! It was so adorable! Totally and absolutely adorable! I couldn't believe how much work they had done to get ready for the show. Mrs. Moske really whipped them into shape!
I was so proud of Charlie. He actually sang and participated in some of the choreography. Not to the extent the most of the other kids did, but still, he participated. Now, had that been me up there on the stage at Charlie's age, I'm sure I would have sang the loudest, danced the biggest and probably choreographed the entire show myself, but clearly Charlie did not get that part of my DNA. Still, he tried his hardest and that's what I'm most proud of.
But, if you ask me, I think I see a little smirk on his face... a sly little smile that's saying, "Hey, this is kind of fun!" Maybe someday he'll let loose and sing his heart out. Maybe, just maybe!

They also sang "Five Little Pumpkins" and read this poem about an orange pumpkin. So cute!

Ok, so I'm woefully behind. I know it's almost Thanksgiving and I have yet to blog about Halloween. And, in fact, I have one more post that I'm going to put up before I even get to Halloween! What can I say? We're busy in the Arning household!
So, humor me here. Let's travel back a couple of weeks to mid-October. We took best buds Chase, Max, Charlie and Colby to an event in a nearby town called Davidson Trick or Treat. We were all so excited about it because it gave the boys a chance to put on their Halloween costumes and trick or treat a week early. And while it was fun, it could have been so much more. Basically, several hundred kids just lined up and walked down Main Street in Davidson collecting candy and advertisements for Mom and Dad. Well, I say "collecting" candy, but really, there was way more "eating" of the candy than there was "collecting" of the candy. But, I digress.
In my opinion, there should have been a family friendly band playing in the town square across the street with games, bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, you name it. Families could have packed a picnic and eaten dinner together on a blanket on the lawn. Truly, Radio Disney should have been there entertaining the kids. A wasted opportunity for sure.
We did enjoy ourselves and the boys certainly didn't complain. They loved it in fact. When do they EVER get to eat that much candy in one sitting? But I think it could have been so much more. (By the way, I forgot to mention that we had to wait in line for 45 minutes before we even got to trick or treat.)

So, it seems as if I've been spending LOTS of time at Patterson Farm lately. Thank goodness I only have two kids! You'd think it was the only farm in the Charlotte area!
Anyway, we headed back to Patterson Farm not too long ago with Charlie's Jr. K class from McKinney Academy. What a difference a couple of years make! While he was still somewhat impatient, Charlie was much more behaved overall. Seriously though, will he EVER learn patience? EVER?
