SNOW DAY!

Charlotte got hit with a ton of snow yesterday. We probably got about five inches here in Huntersville and Hickory (just north of us), got about 8 inches. The streets are pretty much a solid sheet of ice, but that was of no matter to us because we had a snow day! Mike, Charlie, Chase and I all headed out and braved the weather to frolic in the white wonderland (although Chase and I made it a quick trip because he is only a baby after all). Lucky for us we live on a golf course, so the hills right outside our door are perfect for sledding! Charlie had so much fun sitting on Mike's lap and sledding down the hill. The only time he cried was when Mike had to carry him up the hill before the next trip down. He wanted to instantly be at the top of the hill so he could sled down again. I even got my chance on the sled with Charlie and it was SO FUN! The temperatures here aren't going up anytime soon, so it looks like we'll be able to enjoy another day outside tomorrow.

Chase takes over the Jumperoo

We put Chase in the Jumperoo for the first time the other day. I don't think he knows exactly what to do with it yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before he figures it out. The sad part is that he is only one level away from outgrowing it all together. I had it on the lowest setting when I first put him in the Jumperoo, but his knees were bent so much that it was obvious he was too big for level one. So, I moved the Jumperoo up one setting and lo and behold, he was too big for that setting too! What the heck! Anyway, he's just too cute for words regardless. He'd better start jumping pronto though because he's running out of time before he outgrows it altogether!

Food, Inc.

I am watching Oprah's show on where our food comes from and oh my gosh, is it eye-opening! She came up with the idea for this show after seeing the documentary, "Food, Inc." I cannot imagine how informative/disturbing that documentary is after just seeing just a glimpse of it on Oprah's show. As a mom, I really need to think about what I'm putting into the bodies of my two babies. I am responsible for their health and well-being, so it's up to me to make sure they eat nutritious meals and snacks. It's no wonder this country is so obese and unhealthy after seeing what we put into our bodies - preservatives, antibiotics, loads and loads of sugar, etc. I am as guilty as the next person - probably more so, Plus with two kids (a toddler and an infant, no less), it's hard to find time to cook and prepare meals of any kind, so the quick, pre-packaged meals are very appealing. But, if I just take baby steps, I think I can get started on the path of eating a little more consciously. It's for the good of all of us!

Chase's Mullet

Poor, sweet, beautiful baby Chase has a mullet. A bonafide, Billy Ray Cyrus, "Achy Breaky Heart" mullet. I really want to cut it, but he's just a baby! You shouldn't have to give your baby his first hair cut until he's at least six months old! I'm not sure how much longer I can hold off though. My baby just can't have a mullet. I can't allow it.

Charlie Arning: Future Racer

Every time Charlie gets on his motorcycle, Mike and I just shake our heads. This kid loves to race through the house and then "spin out" once he gets to the kitchen. No joke. I caught it on video so check it out for yourself. I'm afraid we might be at a racetrack for the rest of our lives...
